Grub Street New York

By Molly Heintz

There are many reasons to heart New York–the culture, the nightlife, the people-watching. But the biggest reason of all may be the unparalleled food. In the City that Never Sleeps, you have to keep your strength up. From greenmarkets to street meats to swanky boîtes, New York has it all. Staying abreast of the latest hot spots for dining is just as important as being in the know on sample sales, and one blog is an invaluable resource on all matters gustatory: Grub Street New York. While the name is not exactly elegant, the info is spot on.

A spinoff of New York magazine‘s website, Grub Street mixes restaurant reviews with news on openings and closings (the City just shut down the speak-easy style restaurant La Esquina!), as well as gossip about what celebs are frequenting which watering holes. A handful of great bloggers like Helen Rosner and Sally Holmes write alongside veteran New York mag reviewers Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld to create a constant stream of entertaining and educational posts in New York‘s sassy signature style. While focused on Manhattan and the Outer Boroughs, Grub Street sometimes ventures a little farther afield, covering wine and cheese tours in the Hamptons or the state of food blogging in New Jersey (apparently, it’s impressive).

Whether you’re craving some Vietnamese bánh mì or interested in knowing which banquette Jude Law and Sienna Miller cozied up on the night before, Grub Street has you covered. But be prepared–adding this blog to your news feed will make you hungry.
