So much going on in fashion in the past week…..
Paris Vogue surprisingly goes Hollywood for the May cover. Penelope Cruz guest-edited the issue and appears on three different covers. On one, she shares the cover with Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, and Gwyneth Paltrow. All of the ladies are wearing tees from Gap’s (Product) Red Collection. On the other covers, Penelope appears with Bono and Meryl Streep.
Marc Jacobs’ mini-empire in the West Village is growing once again. His sixth store will apparently be a bookstore. The location at 400 Bleecker Street, in New York City, used to house the Biography Book Shop for the past twenty years that has relocated due to increasingly glitzy area rents. Hmmm……
Celebrity fragrances are nothing new but they are for Jennifer Aniston. Her first signature fragrance called Lolavie will debut in June in the UK department store, Harrods. “The first perfumes I ever wore were Miss Dior and Anais Anais,” she told WWD. “My mother wore Calèche and my grandmother used a body splash that came in a big yellow jug that she kept by the bathtub. Those were very strong scents. Now, I am not a big perfume-y fragrance fan.”….. So we’re wondering two things…what does Lolavie smell like if she’s not into strong scents? And was the big yellow jug her grandmother used Jean Nate and why won’t Jennifer admit it? Jean Nate is very DEREK FABULOUS!!
Do you write or draw on your clothing or handbags? Well Lady Gaga does. She was spotted last week with a white Hermes Birkin bag with “I love little monster, Tokyo love” written on it in black magic marker in Japanese! Does this horrify you or do you feel it makes her bag more personal?
In fashion Reality TV news; The lady stars of Jersey Shore, Snooki, Sammi, and JWOWW, appear in the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar taking etiquette lessons with Tinsley Mortimer. It’s actually quite adorable!
And if all that was not enough…..
The Sundance Channel has announced its upcoming line-up for their “The Day Before” series. It will feature Donatella Versace, Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, Narciso Rodriguez, and Nina Ricci’s Peter Copping as they prepare their Fall 2010 collections 24-36 hours before the show. The show will debut Sept. 8.
