Fabulous people, great food, and of course GORGEOUS couture gowns filled the room last night at our blogger party for couturier Kim Hick’s line preview. Bloggers and other guests watched two beautiful models show just a few of Kim’s designs from her new line. There were amazing hors d’ouevres catered by Vanessa Miller, and Given liqueur provided by Michael Mills.

John Barrett Salon did a fabulouss job on the models hair &  Metier Beaute’ at Bergforf Goodman did make up!!

The hors d’oeuvres were amazing, thanks to the talented  Vanessa Miller!

This event was literally just a taste of some of the couture gowns that will be shown next week at Kim’s show. Rather than being in Lincoln Center like most shows during Fashion Week, the show is set to be held in the decadent Woolworth mansion! This gorgeous townhouse has an old world feel that will make the perfect background to this collection that was inspired by “old world couture and glamour”.

Last night was a MEGA SUCCESS, & such a fun event! Thanks to all the bloggers who made it out! We’re so excited for the complete show next week, and can not wait to see the collection in it’s entirety next week at the Woolworth Mansion!

This afternoon Derek Fabulous will be participating in the CFDA’s “A Life in Fashion” panel!!! This panel is filled with some great people in the fashion industry who will be giving advice to high school students, and giving us a taste of what it’s like to have a life in fashion!!! And with New York Fashion week swiftly making it’s way here this panel couldn’t have come at a better time!

The panel will be hosted by Stephanie Winston Wolcoff, who is the Director of fashion at the Lincoln Center, and moderated by Kim Friday of Women’s Wear Daily. The panel will include our very own Derek Fabulous, Designer Betsey Johnson, blogger Leandra Medine, and Executive VP, Global Communications of Calvin Klein Inc. Malcom Carfrae.

This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!! So if you can, stop by & hear this great panel speak!!!

The 18th annual Screen Actors Guild was last held last night in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium. The stars kept it cool and simple  in neutral colors. We absolutely loved the all the women in creme, and white, and those who opted for classic black. Take a look at just a few of our favorite looks of the night!!

Classic, elegant, and unique can be used to describe the collections that were shown yesterday. We saw absolutely stunning pieces in beautiful colors and some timeless pieces that will always work! Yesterday was the launch of Charles Albert’s  The Oasis Collection; ” a perfect continuation of the rich colors, and statements from the innovative Alchemia metal.” The Oasis Collection is a mix of red, white and blue pieces, warm beach tones and shells. Albert said he drew a lot of his inspiration from sandy beaches.

We love these collections because they are absolutely perfect for the spring and summer seasons. Whether it’s to add a pop of color or to complete a beachy look.

These pieces are functional, gorgeous and DEREK FABULOUS!

Some other things that we really love about Charles Albert’s collection is that rather than gold, the jewelry is what he calls Alchemia “zero karat gold”, because it infuses a blend of base metals metal, which stimulates the appearance of 18K gold at a fraction of the cost. Another great thing about Charles Albert’s designs are they are all nickel and lead free and non-hypoallergenic!!!

Madonna’s new movie “W.E.” premiered last night here in New York City at the Ziegfeld Theater. Jessica White and her best friend and fellow supermodel Irina Shayk WERKEDDDDD the red carpet last night. And of course both girls were styled by Derek Fabulous!!!!!

Both looked stunning in Carlos Miele, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Kara Ross clutches, Miriam Salat Jewelry!

Jessica looked great and gave us a lot of leg in this gorgeous royal blue Carlos Miele dress!!

Irina Shayk was chic in a white Carlos Miele jumpsuit!!!

Both girls looked Derek Fabulous, and definitely stole the red carpet last night!!!

The stars were aligned and though there was no snow fall, the night was no short of magic. The 12th annual Winter Wonderland Ball at the New York Botanical Garden is one of the most anticipated gala events of winter amongst New York City social circles. Some of the night’s attendees included Nina Garcia, designer Chris Benz, Tinsley Mortimer, Charlotte Ronson, and it wouldn’t really be a party if our very own Derek Warburton was not in attendance!  I am sure this event is the most “fabulousness” the Bronx has seen in a while since their very own Jenny from the Block was still riding the 6 train. When entering the venue, guests were greeted by a motor train show that zig zagged its way through a hand crafted miniature replica of some of New York City’s greatest monuments.  It was created with a elements from mother nature such as twigs, moss, leaves and grass.  (to create this it would take some tiny fingers and all of the patience in New York City!)

Following the motor train show, guests then recieved specialty cocktails that were mixed up by the night’s ‘happy juice’ sponsor  Domaine de Canton.

Following the cocktail hour, guest made there way into the ballroom where they were instantly thrust into a Winter Wonderland. The table scapes, the music, the lighting, the entire room’s ambiance embodied the theme.

And here are a few folks that you may know that were in attendance at the this fabulous soiree.

Our very own Derek Warburton was in attendance, sporting a black and white bow-tie, leopard print Christian Louboutin loafers and of course his ‘Weave Glasses”…..can you spell show stoppa?!

Fashion Editor, Nina Garcia looked fab in her beaded white gown.

Designer Chris Benz…and his pink hair…that we LOVE!!

Tinsley Mortimer, wore white also but, sexed her dress up by wearing a mini, one shoulder littler number.

Our favorite Mixologist, Darryl Robinson wore this champagne, tailored to the 9′s suit…WORKING IT HARD!

In case you weren’t able to make it to the Winter Wonderland Ball, like myself (cursing the mailman in my head, for losing my invite in the mail), I hope that you were able to live vicariously through these photos!

As you all may know, Derek made a visit to Glasgow, Scotland this past summer to present at the Scottish Fashion Awards and while there, he met  the oh so fab, Tessa Hartmann.  Tessa is the founder of the Scottish Fashion Awards and the Managing manager of the Hartman Media and now she can add Editor-At-Large to her resume!  Tessa will enter her new position starting January 1, 2012.  We here at the Derek Loves Shopping offices want to offer our biggest congrats and good luck to Tessa Hartmann  in her future endeavors (which we know will be filled with nothing but FABULOUSNESS).

The Macy’s flagship store is set to undergo renovations  starting in the spring, which will allegedy cost $400 million. This is no overnight job though, the renovations won’t be completed until 2015!! These renovations are said to bring 1.2 million square feet of shopping space, & there will be 22 restaurants within the store. And for all the shoe lovers, they will have the largest shoe collection with 300,000 pairs of shoes a day!!!

Macy’s Herald Square is such a major staple in the city!  It’s also a major corporation from the Macy’s holiday parades, 4th of July firework displays to Fashion’s Night Out! So it’s almost necessary that as the company & brand continue to grow so much the physical store!

Another thing that Team Fabulous is absolutely loving about these renovations and expansion is that there will be 800 more jobs available, causing a need for an employee rise! We can’t wait for the new & improved Macy’s to open!!!

On Thursday October 27th the finest in New York City fashion showed themselves at Cipriani Wall Street for the 28th Annual Luminaries Night of the Stars Gala presented by The Fashion Group International.  The Fashion Group International (as quoted from The Fashion Group International website) is “a non-profit organization that is home to over 5000 members of the fashion industry.  These include apparel, accessories beauty and home.  The Fashion Group International provides insights on major trends in person, online and in print; access to business professionals and a gateway to the influence fashion plays in the marketplace.”

Monday, October 24th a fundraising soiree was held at Lincoln Center by the man behind the little polo horse, Ralph Lauren. Everyone and their mama (Literally) were in attendence.  Uma Thermon, Chanel Iman Martha Stuart, Kerry Washington, Clinton Kelly, Jessica Alba, our very own Derek Warburton, just to name a few.  With such an A-List crowd, who else do you think theY would give the hosting gig to?! None other than Oprah Winfrey, who wore and stunning custom made red Ralph Lauren gown.

The night’s proceeds benefited the Ralph Laruen Center for Cancer Care and Prevention as well as the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (where the gala was held).  The nights festivities included a sit down, personal interview accompanied with a multimedia presentation (true Oprah fashion). A runway fashion show of Ralph Lauren’s collection as well as at superb dinner.  No word of an after party but Im sure Ralph and his wife, Ricky Lauren were droppin’ it like it was hot up in some NYC night club…..or maybe not.  Enjoy some of the photos from the nights festivities!
