Hair for Riviera Kings and Queens
By Elle Gomez
Summer is here, time to bask under the sun, relax and let your hair down. This summer’s trend in fashion is all about stripes, rope and naval detail: yes…it’s nautical.
Nautical summers are yacht cruises, diving into oceans, or lying on hammocks while sipping on refreshing cocktails. If you’re planning on yachting across the French Riviera or simply hitting the beach; whether it’s the Hamptons, Malibu, or South Beach you still have to maintain your locks so your look is TOGETHER.
Mademoiselles, if you’re talented with your hands and you’re serious about pulling your look together, pin curls are the move and go with this classic vintage-inspired look! But this is for the crème de la crème, your not just lying on any old beach, but a yacht afloat in the Mediterranean. Pin curls are worth the time invested, it’s a look that will take you from day to night. Just drop them, run your fingers through your hair and you’ll have big luscious curls right on time for a sunset dinner. For the not so talented don’t fret, run to the nearest Hermes and scarf it up!
At the beach the look is effortless style, tussled, natural textured tresses. Try Surf Spray by Bumble & Bumble. It’s a salt water based spray that will define and bring out natural waves. Apply the spray to damp hair and let it air dry. The salt water based product along with the ocean breeze gives the same affect as if you were to blow dry with diffuser. And even if you’re just staying in town it will give you a summery, beachy look.
Pour hommes, when most of you hit the beach the last thing you think of is your hair and that’s ok, leave it loose and free. But if you’re yachting through St Tropez, you must look the part, poised and intact with hair in place. Simply add Bumble & Bumble Gellac Super Hold Gel Lacquer. It leaves a glistening finish, no movement no brushing, not out until you wash it out. This dapper hair look ala Mad Men, will show your fellow jetsetters that you mean business even while dropped anchor sipping King George V on the rocks.
Bon voyage!
