Marine Life: Beach Beauty Essentials 3

By Justin St. Clair

BRONZER

Of course sunscreen is an absolute must in order to avoid burning, but getting a healthy golden tan is the last word in beach chic. That might be inevitable if you are able to relax by the sea, soaking up the rays, but for the majority of us with nautical aspirations there is bronzer – in all its myriad permutations.

Not to be confused with self-tanner, bronzer will not develop or get darker, usually doesn’t smell awful, and will come off easily with good old-fashioned soap & water. Like self-tanner it is made in formulations for the body and the face, or both. So if you’re not making it to the beach or boat but want to look like you did, bronzer is your new “bestie.” Say hi!

Before I give you a list of yummy products, here’s an inspiration for you: bronze goddesses Ursula Andress - the original Bond Girl in Dr. No.

Ben Nye Bronzing Body Tint

If you’ve a fair to medium complexion then this product can help you look like the lovely Ursula does above. It’s a movie biz must-have and has been used on many a star. Simply apply with a large sea sponge. Dampen the sponge with water, douse it with Ben Nye Bronzing Body Tint and apply over a well moisturized body. Make sure the moisturizer has properly absorbed before applying the tint. For the intrepid user you can apply the tint to the face as well, being careful not to get it in the eyes or mouth. For a very light application pour the tint into a fine-mist spray bottle and spray on, blending with the hands. Although the claim is that this product is water resistant I recommend avoiding water, and tears. It washes off like a breeze in the shower with soap or bath wash.

IMAN Bronzer Afterglow

Swirl these 3 colors together to get a warm healthy glow on pretty much all skin tones. The combination of warm gold tones, rich terracotta, peach and plum make this a very unique and multi-use product. As a blusher, bronzer, or to contour, this powder does wonders on the face.

Guerlain Terracotta Spray SPF 10

Color and protection in one – I like!

If you’re in a hurry and like it easy then this one is for you. A fine mist evenly covers the face in no time at all. Blend with your fingers or a sponge if necessary. If you make a booboo just add a bit of moisturizer and blend well until even. Make sure to get your ears (not inside, on the outside), your neck (including the back of your neck if your hair is short), and the décolletage. FYI – Cover your clothing before you spray, or dress after.

“OMG! You look great! Where have you been vacationing?”

Just something you can look forward to hearing. ;)
