Sail Away with an Italian Picnic (Merlot Included)
By Natasha Senko
Although the summer makes us want to soak up any outdoor time we can get our hands on, the heat of the summer makes us long for cool breezes. What better way to catch a bit of fresh ocean air than by an impromptu sailing trip. Call up your fab friend with the boat and offer to pack an Italian picnic to sustain your energy for your seaworthy cruise.
And what goes best with an italian picnic you may ask? Why a delicious Merlot of course. Now most would think that white wine is reserved for summer but I beg to differ. Break the rules like the rebel you are and go with a merlot that is a little lighter on the pallet. A great choice for this, compliments of our Sicilian friends at Voga, is Voga Merlot. It has all the characteristics of a heavy merlot-ripe dark berries, spicy overtones with a finish that lingers in your mouth just so-but with Voga Merlot, you won’t feel the weight that many merlots have that make us automatically think of winter. Plus the sleek, sexy bottle will confirm to all your friends that you are oh so stylish (not that they didn’t know that already.) The bottle comes corked but also offers a screw on top just in case there are leftovers, although I doubt it.
Voga Merlot goes amazingly with cooked meats, creamy and sharp cheeses, and tasty pastas so slice up that tray of charcutire and imported cheeses, pull out that delicious pasta salad recipe you reserve for summer fun, and sail off into the sunset. CHEERS!!
