The Oscars were full of Glitz and Glam and fabulous gowns but for the most part, innovation and fashion forward gowns were defintiely lacking.  Ahh but a last there was one Avant-Guarde-ian of the night that reined supreme…. Cate Blanchett!

Im am pretty pissed of to be hearing that our girl Cate, has been getting criticized for her one of a kind Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci Haute Couture gown which was part of the Spring 2011 collection.  The bold yellow detailing on the back of the gown as well as the bubble like detailing on the gown along with the japanese inspired modern cut and style of the gown truly made Cate Blanchette our all time favorite Oscar Avant-Guarde look! She flowed down the red carpert, and owned every single minute of it.
