Work It Out Girl
Work your buns under the sun
Summer is here and you’ve probably made all your vacation plans, picked out your swimsuits and your sexy little party dresses. However, like most people, exercise will probably be the furthest thing on your mind while out gallivanting the sandy beaches and site seeing. Self Magazine has put a neat little workout involving powerful plyometric moves which zap up to 10 calories per minute and you can do them right on the beach—so now you have no excuse.
“Because the explosive movements are weight-bearing, they firm muscle while they melt fat,” according to Meredith Miller, founder of Level 10 Fitness in Manhattan Beach, California. She has helped SELF create this exclusive get-lean routine.
The plan: Do the workout three times a week on alternate days. Zip through it without rest—it’s cardio!
Here’s what you’ll need: A volleyball (or any playground ball) and a nylon agility ladder or make your own ladder consisting of five 2-foot squares taped onto a hard surface or drawn in the sand.
